This is a Deaths Head bug with an extraordinary shield looking like a scary skull like face. This is to protect itself from predators. The beetle is set on a black glittery background and is resting on a small piece of driftwood, surrounded by dried fern leaves.
Latin name: Eurocysses Grandis
Common Name: Deaths Head Bug
Dimensions frame: 12cm x 12cm. The frame can stand on its own and even though it has no hanging features on the back it can be easily hung up on the wall on a screw or nail.
