owl pellet bone art, real bones, real skulls, oddities, curiosities
This frame with real owl pellet bone artwork has been made with real bones found through wild owl pellets, from shrews, voles, mice and occasionally small birds. I've made this display in de design of a crucifix, adorned with gems and ornate corner pieces. This design is set on a black background.
Each design is one of a kind and most of the time, I design out of my head!
I've dissected each owl pellet and cleaned and the bones. Then the bones go through the whitening process. After that, they are carefully sorted into sections for different bone types. These art displays are then created with the cleaned bones. Each one is situated on the background using tweezers. Lastly, I come up with a design as I go along and they are each individually glued down.
Keep in mind that some bones retain their natural bone colour. I like to keep these natural elements in my art.
The frame measures 8" x 8" and has hanging features.
The glass has been taken out for the photos, this will be put back in before shipping.
